THE BOOK
Target Practice
acrylic on target paper, 1997
Target Practice is the first painting of the Anti-Sexual Discharge series. I began shooting guns at LAX Firing Range when a friend of mine invited me to try it out. She was what I would call a militant feminist and had been sexually abused as a child. I was recovering from a lifetime of sexism and a nasty case of sexual harassment when I agreed. As an artist, I saw the poetry in the shot-out targets. I took them home and wondered for months what I would do with them. One night I began painting the targets. Suddenly, I learned that violence was an expression of negative sexual energy and the theory for Antisexual Personality Disorder was something I had discovered.

The Target
acrylic on target
paper, 1997
Antisexual Personality Disorder is the containment of negative sexual energy in victims and victimizers of gender, sexual, power, emotional, verbal and physical abuse that leads to violence toward the self or others in the form of negative-sexual expressions of violence or dysfunctional relationships including but not limited to rape, domestic violence, substance abuse, eating disorders, neglect, molestation, pornography, prostitution, homophobia, heterophobia (fear of heterosexual relationships), sexual harassment, gun violence, gang wars, divorce, abortion, fertility issues, money issues, intimidation, road rage, humiliation, and terrorism. The Target is an expression of my fat self when I had gained weight due to being a victim of sexual harassment. There is a striking resemblance to Monica Lewinsky don't you think? The Target is the blow-up doll haunted.
Eat My Perfect Pie Right to the Sky! That's how I feel with George Bush as President. Women are entitled to freedom! Why is Reproductive Rights under so much scrutiny? It's unjust and anti-freedom of choice. Bush is really a big hypocrite! Anti-freedom is Antisexual!

Money is the Great Sex Blow. Here's one for greediness and corporate evil. It's called Evil Crawls. You can see these paintings and more if you read the book.

The Rape
acrylic on target paper,
1998
The Rape shows a woman who is not ready for a relationship. Sometimes when men want sex, they simply think they can have it as if we women are as easy to obtain as a piece of cake. He believes he should have it and then grabs it, devouring it through addiction. Sometimes we forget that human beings are delicate fragile creatures, with lifetimes of consequences. That is why love is mystical. Respect grows in healthy space.
Thank you for your listening and support. I hope you will help me communicate these ideas so that the American Psychiatric Publishing Inc. will publish the criteria for understanding Antisexual Personality Disorder in the DSM, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Once clinical therapists understand ASD, they can treat victims of violence more effectively and help stop the spread of victimization. The APPI is located in Washington D.C. at 202-682-6000.
Let's create a world where violence no longer exists by learning how to redirect anger toward peaceful nonviolent outlets like charity, community service, self-help groups, music, sports, and art.
Anti-Sexual Discharge is a book written by Jodi Leib that further defines the theory for Antisexual Personality Disorder, and features over 20 more Art Therapy paintings by Jodi Leib.
